After spending 10 years in Los Angeles, California, Canadian born singer/songwriter/producer Michael Kisur decided to set up shop back in his native country. It is from Canada that Michael has amassed an impressive array of original songs featured on a variety of hit TV shows. It all began with the immensely popular Melrose Place . Michael was heard performing his songs on
8 episodes of this infamous series. Following the airing of an
episode featuring the song, "Miracle", Spelling Entertainment
in Los Angeles received an unprecedented number of phone calls
from fans desperately wanting to know where they could obtain
a CD. From there things really started to accelerate.
Michael's voice and original songs have been featured on such
shows as The Sopranos, Judging Amy, C.S.I., One Life To Live, All My
Children, Passions, Beverly Hills 90210, Any Day Now, Port
Charles, Sunset Beach and The Young and the
Restless. Following the June 27, 2000 episode in which the
CD’s single, "I Will" is showcased during a dream sequence
montage for the character, Olivia, inquiries to CBS Los
Angeles (where the Y&R is taped) and various other local
stations came fast and furious. TV Guide ran a feature
on Michael as a result.
Fans of the various shows continue to
search out his music,and he has become the subject of many a discussion on various TV
website chat rooms. As well, Michael also receives emails from
listeners curious about his music. His song, "Peace"
(often referred to
as "Billy and Mac's song") has been featured on The Young and the Restless 26 times
to date. Michael's "Even If”, dubbed as Billy and Mac's "Goodbye Song"
on the Y&R, prompted a flood of calls and emails to CBS in
Los Angeles. "Let Me Prove It To You", featured several times
for the Y&R's Brittany and Raul, also garnered much interest from
fans.
As a result of the attention many of
Michael’s songs have drawn, he’s been featured in such
publications as Soap
Opera Digest, Soap Opera Weekly and TV Guide .
In 2005, “Sunshine”, a song co-written
with renowned Boston based composer/musician, Brad Hatfield
and sung by Michael, was featured 3 times on the Y&R. On
April 22, 2006, “Sunshine” received an Emmy Award for
outstanding original song .
On March 14, 2007, Michael was once again nominated for an Emmy Award for "Carry On", as song he wrote and performed, which was featured on The Young and the Restless. As Michael puts it, "I feel very lucky to be able to work in this industry. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have my music reach so many people. It really is an honor." |
